on-chip soliton frequency comb generation
Abstract: On-chip microring resonator has been explored and studied extensively to demonstrate the generation of multiple frequency lines from a single frequency input. This offers advantages in different application areas such as multi-channel comb laser source (can be used in a communication sector), microwave photonics ( as a pulsed laser source), as a frequency ruler and/or precision time measurement, etc.
This seminar covers the attempt towards generating comb states, which are dynamic and nonlinear in nature. The work follows with systematic analysis of the ring resonator fabricated in silicon nitride platform and experimental efforts to access these nonlinear states. These states require thorough understanding of the system and also considering the external factors such as the thermal effects, and overcoming them.
